Technology
At Filmstar Baby we use state-of-the-art, technologically advanced ultrasound equipment for 3D/4D scanning. We are all familiar with traditional 2D scans which have been used for the last three decades, but over the last ten years the development of 3D ultrasound machines has surged ahead, producing imaging results that were previously unthinkable. Cutting edge imaging techniques mean that the baby can be seen in incredible detail, and integrated computer technology means that we can now see babies moving in real-time. 3D (three dimensional) images are created by taking multi-successive 2D parallel images and applying a technique called surface rendering. This allows depth to be added to the image and results in 3D pictures (please see
Gallery). Add the fourth dimension time to the equation and the results are breathtaking – the baby can be seen moving in real-time, exhibiting many of the characteristics of the newborn – smiling, stretching, kicking and yawning!
